Clive is the founder and lead writer, editor and reporting strategist for The Corporate Reporters.
For the past 24 years, Clive has written annual reports and complex business proposals, evolving over the years into a thought leader in the integrated and sustainability concepts that began sweeping through corporate reporting after the 2008 global economic crisis.
Clive also writes sensitive inter-business correspondence, project proposals and tenders.
When not at the keyboard or visualising story telling strategies, Clive and his wife are irrepressible travellers, especially to destinations with intriguing cultures and compelling scuba diving sites.
As project manager, Bethany conquers deadlines, guiding the flow of project creation and allocating sections of work for completion in line with our clients’ expectations.
Beth is also adept at digging through, analysing and assembling material into working drafts for writers and clients to tackle with minimum delay.
A deep familiarity with South African reporting standards underpins Beth’s ability to carry out technical analyses on client’s integrated and sustainability reports. She then uses these insights to develop a strategy for articulating an organisation’s unique value-creation process. Visualising business models is a particular passion.
When not at her desk, Beth is a keen horticulturalist with a specific focus on indigenous species. She also creates time to be a mother, partner and homemaker.

"What gets measured gets managed"
Young (ish…) copywriter Clive Lotter receives his first commission for corporate reporting. This proves an intriguing departure from the short form advertising and marketing content he usually wrote.
1997 – 2007:
Clive is increasingly sought after for annual and sustainability reporting, though he still writes website and marketing content for agencies. Finalist in four Loeries Awards. Does considerable government and public sector reporting.
2008 – 2009:
Existentialist shock as 2008 global financial crisis reveals widespread manipulation of corporate data and reporting. Considers leaving the industry. Withdraws from public sector reporting in South Africa.
Rescued by the emergence of integrated and GRI (sustainability) reporting. Sees the intrinsic value in working for truth in corporate reporting – though this will be a long road.
Clive decides to specialise in corporate reporting and set aside his writing in other commercial markets.
Bethany Bye joins the business to share the workload

Although not yet listed, Lenmed took the decision four years ago to raise our shareholder and corporate governance reporting to best practice levels. Clive Lotter and his team have guided us through a reporting journey that is helping shape our growing healthcare group as well as keeping our key stakeholders well informed. Experts in their field, we have fostered a thoroughly beneficial working relationship with them. His attention to detail and going the extra mile to understand the complexities and matters affecting the healthcare industry and our group in particular has meant that the add-value we have obtained from Clive has been much more than we anticipated when we started working with him. Importantly, he is deadline driven and prepared to work the extra hours to complete the assignment on time and at the quality demanded of him.
Mustek’s reporting partnership with Clive Lotter over the past 15 years consistently delivers the goods in showing how the group is evolving as South Africa’s most recognised IT brand and distributor. His innovation and capacity to take our reports to the next level year-on-year is an influential contributor to our successful reporting.
